Khushi Street Dog Aid Foundation Trust (KSDAF) is an effort to improve the quality of life of Indian street dogs. It is a non-profit organization. KSDAF, at present, is taking care of about 76 street dogs in Rohini.

The street dog welfare work being done over the last several years includes:
  • Feeding these 76 sterilized street dogs
  • Getting them treated (also any other unknown street dog) whenever the need arises
  • Sterilizing dogs in other neglected areas in Rohini
  • Protecting them from acts of cruelty
  • Sensitizing the public towards 'Mutual Co-Existence between humans and animals' (Live and Let Live) and 'Compassionate and Kind Behaviour towards all animals in general'
  • Creating awareness around Independence Day (about Not Flying Kites) and around Diwali (about Not Burning Firecrackers) in the interest of all animals and birds

KSDAF makes an effort to reduce the suffering of street dogs in the following ways:
  • Food: Dogs are fed with good quality food. Clean water is made available to them in earthen bowls
  • Treatment: They are taken to the best vets in Rohini for treatment and sometimes to other animal hospitals for a second opinion, surgery, treatment and boarding
  • Sterilization: As per the animal laws, regular efforts are made to sterilize and vaccinate dogs. Dogs are beign taken to Friendicoes, Sonadi Animal Hospital, Sanjay Gandhi Animal Care Hospital and Krishna Ashram either in the hospital van or auto/taxi. KSDAF has sterilized many dogs in slums (Sector 3 & Sector 9, Rajapur, Rohini)
  • Support from Local People: A good communication network exists between KSDAF and the local people (like rikshawalas, chaiwalas, shopkeepers and dhabawalas). These people help in taking care of the community dogs
  • Commitment: KSDAF puts its best efforts in treating street dogs in their natural habitat — on the roads and streets. With its commitment and dedication, KSDAF thus helps to decrease the number of dogs reaching animal shelters

Having been registered under the Income Tax Act, KSDAF hopes to get more funds so that it can continue doing good work for the Indian street dogs.
